How Can I Volunteer

volunteersThe Sgt John A Lyons Run to Remember Run would not be possible without the continued support of our dedicated sponsors and volunteers. ;We sincerely appreciate everyone who donates their time to make this race a success!

If you prefer not to walk or run, you can still be a part of making this race happen. We can always use volunteers for all aspects of the race. Assignments are handed out as needed by RTRJ organization. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact us.

 

Check In - assist with registration and general check-in
Water Stops - maintain water stations (groups of 10 or more preferred)
Finish Line - hand out water and medals at the finish line
Food Area - support snack stations to ensure participants are replenished after the race
Kids Play Area - oversee a safe play area for the kids
Route Guidance - direct participants along the course
Online Awareness - share our Facebook posts and website link with walkers and runners you know
Race Course Clean-up Crew
We are also looking for an group of early riser volunteers (from 4:00 AM to 7:00 AM) to help set up the race course. AND of course, we always need cheerleaders at the finish line. Come on out and have some fun!

Clean-up
Help with post-race clean-up and organization.

Finish Line Assistants (People Movers)
Maintain the flow of runners through the finish area.

Food & Refreshments
Set up and serve beverages and food to racers and volunteers.

Medical Aid (must have credentials)
Looking for doctors, nurses, EMTs, or rescue volunteers to provide on-site medical support.

Parking
Direct pre-race parking.

Post-Race Massage
Professional massage therapists, post race massage for race participants.

Race Packet Stuffing (several days prior to race day)
Help put together runner’s packets. (Not applicable to all races.)

Registration
Guide athletes through the registration process.
Assist with race number, t-shirt and packet distribution.
Accept race-day registrations and payments.

Road Marshals
Help control traffic and spectators, make sure racers stay on course. Must be 18 or older.

Set-up
Help set up registration, timing, race course, water stations, bike racks, and race site.

Timing
Assist the timing team with various timing functions, i.e., number recording, race timers, etc.

Water Tables
Distribute water to race participants.
